See, this is exactly why I've never had a 'girlfriend' since my divorce. I'm scared silly of getting into another relationship after 14 years of pure hell. I'd rather never have one than hurt someone else.
Not to say I haven't had snuggle buddies--but we both know where we stand before any snuggling.

Reason for going to Bethel

Sad 'Bethel people are the bestest' story:
My Dad used to sit at the dining room table and admonish my sisters not to bother with any man unless they were Bethelites. "Why get a bologna sandwich when you can get steak instead?" He would say.
Well my older sister's first 'steak sammich' was pretty close to getting sent out to speak at special assembly events when he was caught cheating on her. Somehow he managed to avoid being disfellowshipped while not being the least bit sorry--he married the girl he was doinking around with. Steak #2 cheated on her after a couple years. She forgave him and that wasn't enough. He moved out, got df'ed and never admitted to having sex with anyone else. Soooo by WTS standards she wasn't free to remarry until he got around to saying, "Oh--by the way..."
Being a Bethelite means you volunteered to work at Bethel. Nothing more, nothing less. You can still completely suck ass at being a human being.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I lost a great uncle while booted from the Dubs. One relative called to tell me it happened, but never bothered to give me any details of the funeral. I still have no idea how what you're going through would feel. I'm so sorry.

why do you think few black people actively speak out against wt?
few african-americans can be seen protesting at assemblies.

My parents began studying when I was four and both were baptized by the time I was five.
Polish brothers and sisters helped her bring the four of us sibs to meetings, invited us over for dinner and their kids played with us. It was as color-blind an existence as you could imagine...and this was in a city with riots and racial tensions in the not-so-distant past.
A high-ranking WTS official of mixed race was sent to resolve some serious elder body issues in the mid 70s. We played b-ball in the yard with the black DO who married my sister and her first husband.
Race issues? Where? Not where I grew up.

Do you lie about your age in your profile???
by frankiespeakin inwe all have to be careful about how much information we give out over the net,,it is wise and prudent in some areas,, but what about age???.
now i know many women don't like to admit they are over 29 what do you think is the percentage of correct profiles in reguards to age??.
this is private information and i don't want this to be a prying type of thread just reasonable discussion.

I've scarcely been here for a week...so I'm still trying to figure out why I'm here.
I'm not really interested in hearing 'WTS will come crashing to its knees' because folks may wish it so. They're not going anywhere. Frankly, there are far bigger evils in this word to rail against than some little bitty religion and their set of beliefs. If that's what they do, that's what they do. On the other hand, people who choose to leave aren't going to dry up and blow away either...much as some spiteful individuals amongst them may wish.
I do enjoy talking to reasonable people who are looking for fellowship outside of their former religion, though. So far, so good.

that's why we have so much pain and suffering in the world.
but has mankind been given a fair chance to prove that he can run things without god?.

So which individual nation of over say, a million people distributes food evenly now? Wnich groups of people speaking the same language all live in the same nation? Which people of the same nation are not divided by race, religion and political ideology, if not other things? I don't see how the same language would help that along.
Whether or not the JWs have every stitch of the Bible right, I think God still had the right idea. He wanted to slow the rate at which man would screw everything up.
